Here are some recent pics. Lainey is growing a ton. She is 3 months now and is continuing to look more and more like her brother. She is sweet and is smiling a lot, which is so fun. Brayden is loving football season. He wears his football helmet often. He wants to play sootball tackle, as he calls it. The football helmet serves as a great protector for his head in many situations. Enjoy the pics and video! Thanks for reading and caring about our family.

She's Here!

Lainey Eden Spann was born on Tuesday morning, August 4th at 9:20am. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. I woke up about 4:30 that morning feeling what I thought might be contractions. I timed them for about 20 minutes and they were 5 minutes apart. I woke Blake up and we started timing them together for another 20 minutes or so. They were 5 minutes apart. He called his mom and she came over about 5:30. We got ready and waited for Brayden to get up at about 7:00 so we could see him before we went. He got up at 6:30, so we spent some time with him. I called my doctor, who was in Chicago at the time. I told him what was going on. At that point they were about 4 minutes apart. The clinic opened at 8:00 so he told me that maybe I should just go to the clinic and get checked to make sure I was in labor. The contractions grew more intense and became about 3 minutes apart on our way to the clinic, which is only about 5 minutes away. We stopped in to Chick-Fil-A on the way to get a chicken biscuit, since I knew I wouldn't be able to eat for a while. I was having contraction in the drive thru line. The cashier was excited!

At the clinic the contractions became 2 minutes apart. The doctors hadn't arrived yet, so they didn't check me, but just sent me on to the hospital. By the time we started to leave I couldn't walk to the car, so they got me a wheelchair and Blake went and got the car. Then the exciting part begins. Blake was getting to do, as he puts it, every man's dream. Drive fast while his wife is in labor with his flashers on in the emergency lane, honking his horn and driving through red lights. I was a little nervous. It was rush hour traffic and at this point I have leaned the seat back and am having to breath through my contractions. They are pretty intense at this point.

We get to the hospital entrance at 8:20 and try to get somebody to bring us a wheel chair. People looked at us like we had come to the wrong place. We finally get a wheelchair and I can't get out of the car because my contractions are so long and intense. I managed to get out of the car. Blake was going to go park his car, but I told him we didn't have time. We get in there and of course they are wanting to know if we have preregistered and Blake said, "She is about to have this baby!" They get Wilma to take me up to labor and delivery. By this point I feel like I need to push. Wilma got a little nervous so she started moving a little faster. We get to the delivery room and I am 10 cm dialated and ready to push, but the doctor was delivering another baby so they were telling me to not push. The doctor got in there about 9:00 I started pushing and by 9:20 Baby Lainey was in the world. It was amazing and intense all at the same time. I couldn't believe we did it! I can't believe women do this everyday. We are having such a sweet time with her and Brayden is loving her and adjusting extremely well. Enjoy the pics and the videos!

Before we left for the hospital.

This was taken 2 hours before Lainey was born.
